What Are You Doing In 2010 To Reach Your Freedom Target?
So a new year is upon us and we’re all making our plans for the year. Maybe not thorough plans but certainly wants & desires you have for the upcoming year. Goals about fitness, your health or changes you want to make in your life. Many people are trying to start up an online business on the side likely, and want to do it with little or no money (can’t afford to). I believe that’s possible, but somewhat restrictive and self defeating.
My Start To 2010
Following the Internet Marketing world you will hear certain names over and over again. You will see videos from your trusted sources who likely at some point have heard the name Yanik Silver. Yanik runs a seminar every year calledUnderground Online Seminar (currently in it’s 6th year). I have not gone, but I know many people have heard of it, and wonder about taking the plunge. There is a fair cost involved, including travel, hotel, and your admission.

When I first heard of this seminar it wasn’t a pitch, it wasn’t a review, it wasn’t anything related to the seminar. I’ve now heard from several trusted people I follow in this industry about how much of an impact this seminar had on their career. People went to this seminar and it really was the turning point for their online success.
They have in the past had some amazing key note speakers, people making millions online, and wanting to share their knowledge. Yanik Silver goes to great lengths to get these guys to come and speak at his seminar. I’m a Gary Vaynerchuk fan and he’s just been announced as a keynote speaker this year (with some enticing by Yanik through a competition). I love his enthusiasm and straight up approach and openness. I just finished reading his book Crush It, I recommend it.
Investing In Your Future
I will be attending this years seminar. I decided to invest the money based on all the solid feedback I’ve ever read about this seminar, the information you get, the relationships you build, and what it has meant to so many very successful online marketers and business owners. Many people believe they couldn’t put a price on the admission after they had returned. I know people go back more than once, year after year to mingle and brainstorm with like minded individuals. My point being, I’ve committed a fair amount of money to this. I truly believe I’m investing in my future. I didn’t have this money laying around, but I believe it will pay itself over and over again in the future, I believe that.
Sitting around trying to do it all free is sometimes the only option you have, but I believe it to be self defeating because it doesn’t really put pressure on you to succeed. Nobody is ‘watching’, you haven’t lost anything if you just give up or lose interest because things aren’t going well. When you start to invest your time, and especially some money, you are driven to push further.
Have you ever done something you didn’t really want to because you had already paid for it? Sometimes we need a little financial motivation, and hitting your wallet is a great motivation for many people.
Now I’d be foolish to simply hope this motivates me based on spending money, but it is certainly one angle to consider. I plan to leverage the information I get and hopefully build some new relationships with some cool cats.
Invest In Your Online Business
Investing money in yourself is investing in your business. Going to something as reputable as this seminar, learning from people who have proven they know their stuff and walk the walk is a fantastic investment. Not only in education, but in motivation, being around all those individuals creates a buzz that’s infectious. I may not have attended this particular seminar before, but I’ve certainly been too many. The energy you feel and momentum you feel after leaving is priceless!
In my previous post about coaching forums, I emphasized the need for one. Speaking with individuals in the same game as you, having mentors and experts to answer your questions, and socializing with people doing what you want to do. It builds a great community. This seminar and others like it are similar in nature. Investing in ebooks and programs, and software is a dangerous addiction because there is no end.
So many people buy products and then don’t implement them. Frank Kern & John Reese sat down with motivational guru Tony Robbins, their question to Tony was why do so many people buy their products and then not implement them?
I believe having a support group, community, or associating with like minded individuals is very much a positive impact and drives people to implement. Sitting alone at home doing it yourself makes it all too easy to get side tracked, and simply give up.
I will certainly be sharing my experiences of the event once I attend, possibly with updates throughout, but I’ll probably be too busy mingling and listening to have time to write a post. I’m very much looking forward to this and what’s to come in 2010!
